East Europe
East Europe: Medieval charm, exceptional value, one Schengen visa.
About East Europe
Prague's fairy-tale skyline, Budapest's grand Danube views, and Krakow's untouched old town offer travelers a different, often more affordable side of Europe than the Western mainland. This region has grown rapidly in popularity for both leisure groups and educational tours, combining rich history with strong value for money.
Visa & Schengen
All six countries in this region — Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia — are full Schengen members. A single Schengen visa covers the entire region.
Requirements are set by each consulate and can change. Confirm the current position for every leg of the itinerary before applying — we are happy to help.
Practical Information
Useful to know before travelling to East Europe
Climate
A continental climate throughout — warm, sometimes hot summers and cold, occasionally snowy winters. Spring and autumn are mild and considered the most comfortable seasons for sightseeing across the region's historic old towns.
Languages
Czech, Polish, Slovak, Hungarian, and Slovenian. English is common in tourist areas and among younger populations, though somewhat less universal than in Western Europe.
Transport Between Countries
Rail connections between capitals are improving steadily — Prague, Bratislava, Budapest, and Vienna form a well-connected core, with Krakow and Ljubljana a little further out but still practically reachable by train or a short flight. Coach travel remains a common, affordable option for group tours moving between cities.
Best Time to Visit
May to June and September are ideal — mild weather and fewer crowds than peak summer. July–August is warm and popular, especially along the Croatian coast; December offers a strong Christmas-market season across Prague, Budapest and Krakow.
