Denmark
Denmark: Effortless design, Nordic calm.
About Denmark
Copenhagen's colorful harbor, world-class design scene, and relaxed cycling culture make Denmark an easy, walkable introduction to Scandinavia. Beyond the capital, the country's smaller towns and coastline offer a quieter, more laid-back pace - a natural pairing with Sweden or Norway on a wider Nordic itinerary.

Denmark has a mild maritime climate with cool summers and chilly, damp winters. Weather can change quickly, so layers are recommended year-round. Summer (June to August) has the longest daylight hours. Best time to visit: June to August, for the longest days and mildest weather.
Copenhagen's metro, S-trains, and extensive cycling infrastructure make getting around easy and efficient. Trains connect Copenhagen to other major Danish cities and onward into Sweden and Germany.
Excellent 4G/5G coverage nationwide. Free Wi-Fi is standard in hotels, cafes, and most public spaces.
Denmark uses the Danish Krone, not the Euro. Cards, including contactless, are accepted almost everywhere, and cash is rarely needed.
Denmark is known for Scandinavian design goods, ceramics, amber jewelry, and modernist furniture. Most shops close on Sundays, though tourist areas in central Copenhagen often stay open.
Denmark applies a single standard VAT rate of 25% with no reduced rate for most goods. Non-EU visitors can claim a refund on purchases over 300 DKK from a single store, processed at the airport on departure.

Visa Requirements for Denmark
For Indian passport holders. Confirm the current rules with the consulate before applying.
Visa Requirement
As a Schengen Area member, Denmark is covered by the same Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa used across all member states. Citizens of the EU, EEA, and visa-exempt countries such as the US, UK, Canada, and Australia do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days.
However, Indian passport holders must apply for a Schengen Visa before travelling. If Denmark is the main destination or first point of entry on a multi-country trip, the application should be submitted through Denmark's consulate or an authorised visa centre.
