England: Royal history, timeless countryside.
About England
London's blend of royal pageantry, world-class museums, and West End theatre anchors most England itineraries, while the countryside beyond - the Cotswolds' honey-stone villages, Bath's Roman baths, Oxford and Cambridge's historic colleges - offers an easy, scenic contrast within a short train ride.

England has a mild, wet maritime climate with cool summers and mild winters. Weather is changeable year-round, so it suits travel in any season, with layers and rain gear always a good idea. Best time to visit: May to September, for the mildest weather and longest days.
London's Underground, buses, and rail network make the city easy to navigate without a car. Intercity trains connect London efficiently to Bath, Oxford, Cambridge, and other regional destinations.
Strong 4G/5G coverage in London and other cities, with generally good coverage across the countryside too. Free Wi-Fi is standard in hotels, cafes, and public transport.
England uses the British Pound (GBP). Cards, including contactless, are accepted almost everywhere, and cash is rarely necessary.
England is known for tailored fashion on Savile Row, tea and biscuits, antiques, and British designer goods. Most shops operate daily, with reduced hours on Sundays.
England applies the UK's standard VAT rate of 20%. The UK ended its tourist VAT refund scheme in 2021, so visitors can no longer reclaim VAT on purchases when departing.

Visa Requirements for England
For Indian passport holders. Confirm the current rules with the consulate before applying.
Visa Requirement
As part of the United Kingdom, England is not in the Schengen Area, and a Schengen visa does not cover travel here. Citizens of a number of visa-exempt countries can visit without a visa for short stays.
Indian passport holders must apply for a UK Standard Visitor visa before travelling, submitted online through the UK government's visa application service - this is entirely separate from any Schengen visa held for the rest of a European itinerary, and the same visa also covers Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
Documents Required
- check_circle Valid passport (with validity covering the full trip)

Requirements change and are decided by the consulate, not by us. Treat this as a starting checklist and confirm the current list before you apply — we are happy to help.
