France
It’s where romance, culture, and the timeless beauty of France come together in one extraordinary journey.
About France
Discover the Soul of France
Effortlessly chic, deeply historic, and endlessly captivating—France remains the world’s favorite romance. It’s the clinking of wine glasses in a bustling bistro, the glow of the Eiffel Tower at midnight, and the timeless beauty of countryside villages that feel untouched by time. We’re here to help you skip the tourist traps and experience France like a local, one unforgettable detour at a time.
Facts About France
Worth knowing before you sell France
First-time visitors are often surprised to learn that a cup of coffee in a traditional French café actually has three different prices depending on where they consume it.
-
The Bar: Standing at the counter is the cheapest and fastest way to drink your espresso alongside the locals.
-
The Table: Sitting inside costs a bit more.
-
The Terrace: Sitting outside facing the street is the most expensive.
-
The Lesson: You aren't just paying for the coffee; you are renting the table. In France, waiters will never rush you out. Once you order on the terrace, that table is yours for hours to simply sit, relax, and people-watch (a beloved French pastime called flânerie).
For Families
-
The Park Picnic Culture: Eating out in France for every meal can get expensive for a family. Let them know that grabbing a fresh baguette, some local cheese, and fruit from a street market to eat in places like the Jardin du Luxembourg or under the Eiffel Tower is not only budget-friendly but is an authentic, highly encouraged French tradition.
For Senior Travelers
-
Built-in Respect and Accessibility: French culture holds deep respect for seniors. Priority seating on public transport is strictly observed by locals. Furthermore, almost all major museums (like the Louvre and D'Orsay) have dedicated accessible entrances with elevators. If they have mobility issues, they can often bypass the massive main queues simply by asking a guard.
For Children
-
Free Museums and Vintage Carousels: Traveling with kids in France is surprisingly magical. First, almost every major neighborhood in Paris and most town squares across the country feature beautiful, vintage merry-go-rounds (carousels) that are perfect for keeping younger kids entertained. Second, anyone under the age of 18 gets free admission to the permanent collections of national museums and monuments.
For Couples on a Honeymoon
-
The 5-Minute Sparkle: To maximize the romance, tell them to avoid the Eiffel Tower at midday. Instead, they should grab a spot along the Seine River or on the Pont des Arts bridge just after sunset. Every hour on the hour after dark, the Eiffel Tower erupts into a spectacular light show, sparkling with 20,000 bulbs for exactly five minutes. It is the ultimate free, romantic moment.

France enjoys a mostly temperate climate with mild winters and warm summers. The south has sunny Mediterranean weather, while western regions experience mild oceanic conditions. Best time to visit: April to June or September to October, for mild weather and smaller crowds than peak summer.
France has an excellent public transit system, featuring high-speed TGV trains, extensive metro networks, regional buses, and local trams for easy urban and rural travel.
France offers reliable high-speed 4G and 5G mobile coverage alongside fiber broadband. Free Wi-Fi is widely available across hotels, cafés, airports, and public spaces.
France uses the Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, though carrying a small amount of cash is recommended for local markets, bakeries, and minor tips.
France is famous for luxury fashion, wine, and artisan markets. Most shops operate from 10 AM to 7 PM, though many smaller boutiques close on Sundays and public holidays.
France applies a standard Value Added Tax (VAT) of 20% on most goods. Non-EU visitors spending over €100.01 in a store can claim a tax refund when departing the European Union.

Visa Requirements for France
For Indian passport holders. Confirm the current rules with the consulate before applying.
Visa Requirement
As a founding member of the European Union and the Schengen Area, France is covered by the standard Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa used across all member states. Citizens of the EU, EEA, and visa-exempt countries such as the US, UK, Canada, and Australia do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days.
However, Indian passport holders must apply for a Schengen Visa before travelling. If France is the main destination or first point of entry on a multi-country trip, the application must be registered through the official France-Visas portal and submitted via an authorised visa application centre (such as VFS Global).
