Finland
Finland: Northern lights, forests, and calm.
About Finland
Finland offers a quieter, nature-first take on the Nordics - Helsinki's design-forward capital, Lapland's northern lights and reindeer country, and thousands of lakes and forests in between. It's a strong fit for travelers looking for wellness, wilderness, or a genuinely different pace from the rest of Europe.

Finland has a continental climate with warm, bright summers and long, cold winters. Northern Lapland sees polar night in winter and midnight sun in summer, worth planning around depending on what travelers want to see. Best time to visit: June to August for the midnight sun, or December to March for the northern lights in Lapland.
Helsinki's metro, trams, and buses cover the city well. VR trains connect major cities efficiently, while Lapland is best reached by domestic flight or overnight sleeper train.
Finland has some of the fastest, most reliable mobile networks in the world. Free Wi-Fi is standard in hotels, cafes, and public spaces.
Finland uses the Euro. Cards, including contactless, are accepted almost everywhere; cash is rarely necessary.
Finland is known for Marimekko textiles, Iittala glassware, Nordic design, and Lapland handicrafts. Most shops close early on Sundays outside central Helsinki.
Finland applies a standard VAT rate of 25.5% on most goods. Non-EU visitors can claim a refund on purchases over 40 EUR from a single store, processed at the airport on departure.

Visa Requirements for Finland
For Indian passport holders. Confirm the current rules with the consulate before applying.
Visa Requirement
As a Schengen Area member, Finland is covered by the same Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa used across all member states. Citizens of the EU, EEA, and visa-exempt countries such as the US, UK, Canada, and Australia do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days.
However, Indian passport holders must apply for a Schengen Visa before travelling. If Finland is the main destination or first point of entry on a multi-country trip, the application should be submitted through Finland's consulate or an authorised visa centre.
