Slovenia: Alpine lakes, storybook Ljubljana.
About Slovenia
Lake Bled's island church and cliffside castle are one of Europe's most photographed views, and Slovenia's capital Ljubljana matches that charm with a compact, green, dragon-bridged old town. A small country with an outsized landscape, it fits easily alongside Austria, Croatia, or Italy on a wider itinerary.

Slovenia has a mix of alpine, continental, and Mediterranean influences depending on region. Summers are warm, winters cold and snowy in the Alps, with the coast staying milder year-round. Best time to visit: May to June or September, for mild weather at Lake Bled and in Ljubljana.
Ljubljana's compact center is easily walkable, with buses covering the wider city. Lake Bled and other regional sights are best reached by bus, train, or short private transfer.
Good 4G/5G coverage in Ljubljana and around Lake Bled, with some weaker signal in remote mountain areas. Free Wi-Fi is standard in hotels and cafes.
Slovenia uses the Euro. Cards are widely accepted in cities and tourist areas, with cash useful in smaller towns.
Slovenia is known for lace-making, honey and beekeeping products, and Idrija lace specifically. Most shops operate daily, with shorter hours on Sundays.
Slovenia applies a standard VAT rate of 22% on most goods. Non-EU visitors can claim a refund on purchases over 50 EUR from a single store, processed at the airport on departure.

Visa Requirements for Slovenia
For Indian passport holders. Confirm the current rules with the consulate before applying.
Visa Requirement
As a Schengen Area member, Slovenia is covered by the same Schengen short-stay (Type C) visa used across all member states. Citizens of the EU, EEA, and visa-exempt countries such as the US, UK, Canada, and Australia do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days.
However, Indian passport holders must apply for a Schengen Visa before travelling. If Slovenia is the main destination or first point of entry on a multi-country trip, the application should be submitted through Slovenia's consulate or an authorised visa centre.
