Poland: Rebuilt beauty, storied resilience.
About Poland
Krakow's medieval old town survived the 20th century almost untouched, while Warsaw's meticulously reconstructed historic center tells a different, equally powerful story. Poland offers rich, affordable history-focused travel, from Wawel Castle to the salt mines of Wieliczka, with strong rail links across the country.

Poland has a continental climate with warm summers and cold, often snowy winters. Spring and autumn are mild and good for sightseeing with fewer crowds than summer. Best time to visit: May to June or September, for mild weather and fewer crowds than summer.
Poland's rail network connects major cities efficiently, including fast links between Warsaw and Krakow. City centers are compact and walkable, with trams and buses covering local transport.
Good 4G/5G coverage in cities and most towns. Free Wi-Fi is widely available in hotels and cafes.
Poland uses the Polish Zloty, not the Euro. Cards are widely accepted in cities, though cash is useful for smaller vendors and markets.
Poland is known for amber jewelry, hand-carved wooden items, and Polish pottery from Boleslawiec. Most shops operate daily, with some closures on Sundays outside tourist areas.
Poland applies a standard VAT rate of 23% on most goods. Non-EU visitors can claim a refund on purchases over 200 PLN from a single store, processed at the airport on departure.
