Scandinavia
Scandinavia: Fjords, northern lights, and Nordic calm.
About Scandinavia
Norway's fjords, Sweden's island-studded capital, Finland's forests, and Iceland's glaciers offer a completely different pace from the rest of Europe — nature-led, uncrowded, and premium. This region suits travelers looking for something distinct from the classic Western European circuit, and is a strong fit for honeymoon, wellness, and small-group nature-focused itineraries.
Visa & Schengen
All five countries — Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden — are Schengen members (Iceland and Norway are Schengen despite being outside the EU). A single Schengen visa covers the entire region.
Requirements are set by each consulate and can change. Confirm the current position for every leg of the itinerary before applying — we are happy to help.
Practical Information
Useful to know before travelling to Scandinavia
Climate
Cold for much of the year, with genuinely mild, bright summers. Northern areas of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland experience the midnight sun in summer and polar darkness in winter — a major draw for northern lights travel between roughly September and March.
Languages
Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, and Icelandic. English proficiency across this region is exceptionally high, among the best in the world, so language is rarely a practical barrier for travelers or guides.
Transport Between Countries
Denmark and Sweden are directly rail-connected via the Öresund Bridge. Beyond that, distances are large and terrain remote in places, so domestic flights and ferries are the practical way to connect Norway, Finland and especially Iceland — this is a region where itineraries are usually built around 2–3 well-chosen bases rather than fast multi-city hopping.
Best Time to Visit
June to August for the midnight sun, long daylight hours, and mildest weather — the classic season for first-time visitors. late September to March is the dedicated season for northern lights viewing in northern Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland.
