Rhine Fall Boat Ride
Overview
Take a boat out to the Rhine Falls at Neuhausen, near Schaffhausen, and feel the force of the river as it drops over the rocks. From the water you see the falls head-on, with Laufen Castle above the far bank.
Highlights
- Into the basin: Boats head into the churning water for a close, loud view.
- The middle rock: Some boats land on the rock mid-falls, with a platform up 100-plus steps.
- Laufen Castle: Terraces above the falls looking down on the water.
- Viewing platforms: Platforms by the water put you beside the spray.
Good to know
- Time on site: About 1.5 hours, including time at the viewpoints.
- Activity level: Moderate: steps to board, 100-plus stairs with no lift on the middle rock, and you will likely get wet.
- Best for: Groups and families wanting a short, active nature stop.
